If anything in the home is trendy, it is accessories and decor pieces. It is fortunate that this is also the easiest part of your decor to switch out in order to get a fresh look. If you are still displaying that lava lamp or have too many mason jars on the counter, it is time to change it up and get rid of the old trends that are on their way out or are already history. Peruse design and decor accessories on line, see what current trends fit in with your style of home and incorporate some of them, retiring the old pieces. This does not mean you have to change everything, just the outdated ones. It is an inexpensive way to move into the current era without breaking the bank.
With interior design, it is entirely possible to have too much of a good thing, especially where furniture is concerned. Just as important as the pieces you put into a space is the sense of space itself. A room overcrowded with furniture will never feel spacious. All your pieces should be in an appealing arrangement and fulfill your needs with regard to function and comfort. Do not let furniture impede traffic flow through the space or restrict movement. If a room ever feels cramped, remove a piece or two of furniture and see if it eases the feeling in the space. Rearranging the pieces in the space might also solve the problem. This Bamax dining room has enough furniture yet it feels open and airy.
Not typically included in a palette of neutral colors, new shades of blue are making their way into the more versatile set of colors used in todays home decor trends. By using darker hues in the same family along with a complementary accent color, blue can be used in a wide variety of combinations. If most of your furnishings fall into the typical beige palette, using blue is the new, more understated way to make a statement.
While there is nothing wrong with a functional sink in clean, classic white, a distinctive sink can really elevate the design of a powder room or guest bath to a whole other level. Statement sinks come in stone, concrete, wood, colored and textured glass, and a slew of other materials. The design shows off the fine woodwork and grain, and the unusual shape is attention getting.
