Wabi sabi can be defined as beauty in imperfection and can incorporate asymmetry, incompleteness, impermanence, and simplicity. In addition to gardens, wabi sabi influences many other aspects of Japanese art and culture, such as the tea ceremony and pottery making, and it is also seen as a way of life.
Complementary colors are colors that are opposite one other on the color wheel, such as orange and purple. Then there are the harmonious analogous color schemes, which are found next to each other, like purple and blue. In a blue and purple flower garden color scheme, for instance, you could mix plants like: Delphinium, Salvia, Lavender, False indigo, Campanula, Blue colored foliage or grasses.
